Halton Charters offers day-boat or live aboard charters to divers in Scapa Flow and beyond, mainly operating from Stromness. Built to withstand the worst of the weather for her former life as a trawler, the Halton is now a sturdy, capable dive boat. She is just short of 70ft in length and 17ft in width, so there is plenty of space for 12 divers to kit up and then to relax after the dive.

She was originally built in Denmark in 1973 in the distinctive Danish style. In the winter of 2002/3 she underwent a major conversion, moving the wheelhouse forward so as to allow space for a galley/saloon above deck whilst six twin berth cabins were fitted out below deck. Halton Charters is now able to offer full live-aboard charters in the Flow and further afield. Over the years the Halton has been as far south as Cairnryan, as west as Faroe, as far North as Trondheim and passed through Malin Head, the Hebrides, Moray Firth, Norway, Shetland and beyond.

Built to withstand the worst of the weather for her former life as a trawler.

The main accommodation above deck comprises of a combined galley and saloon with seating for all the group around a central table. Heating and cooking is on an oil fired Rayburn and food can be stored in either the fridge or freezer. For those that wish to self-cater, all the necessary implements are provided (pots, pans and cutlery etc). Most nights, the Halton is moored a stones throw from a pub so that those of a less culinary bent need never venture too close to the chef type bits.

Ships Compliment:

  • An oil fired Rayburn heats the hot water and radiators though out the boat, besides it’s more obvious role as a cooker!
  • All cooking equipment is provided, plates, cutlery, pots and pans etc if you wish to self-cater.
  • There is both a fridge and a freezer for keeping food.
  • Tea and coffee are provided.
  • There is seating for the full group around a central table.

  • There are six twin berth cabins either side of a heated, central corridor.
  • All the bunks are long enough for me, and I am 6ft 2in!
  • All bedding is provided, including sheets, pillows and duvets.

There are two combined shower/toilet rooms on the boat, one below deck for midnight pees and one on deck for last minute pre-dive emergencies.

The boat has an onboard silenced 7KVA generator providing 240v constantly. Sockets are provided throughout the boat for recharging phones/torches etc.
